# The client portal

> Every client gets one private page: the scope of work to sign, milestones, progress and invoices. No account needed.

## Every client has one

A portal is made the moment you add a client. The **Client portal** card at the top of the client page shows its link, whether you've sent it and when the client last opened it. **Send portal link** drafts the email in the client's thread; you read it and press Send.

## What the client sees

- The scope of work: summary, fee, payment terms and timeline.
- **Sign this scope of work**: their typed name is their electronic signature. Sydbar records the name, the time, a checksum of the exact document, and (when signed through the page) the address and browser it came from. They can download a signed copy. Or they choose **Ask for changes instead** and tell you what to change.
- Each milestone and its progress: not started, in progress, delivered, invoiced, paid.
- Task progress from GitHub or Linear, if you choose to show it: titles and states only, never links into your tools.
- Their sent invoices with status: due, overdue or paid.
- A box to send you notes or links (up to 30 messages a day).

## When the client signs

- The signed version becomes the agreement: milestone invoices, "still to invoice" and the deal stage follow it. A newer version you confirm later becomes the agreement only once they sign it too.
- The signature thread comes back to the top of **Needs you**, due now, with the next steps: send the kickoff email, set up GitHub or Linear, invoice the deposit. You also get an email.
- A change request works the same way: the thread comes back to you with what they asked for.

## Private by link

The link is long and random, not listed anywhere, and hidden from search engines. Clients don't need an account.

Turn the link off from the client page at any time; turning it back on makes a new link.
