# Tags

> Marketing, Operations, Finance and Clients. A second layer inside each business, mirrored to Gmail labels.

Source: https://sydbar.app/docs/tags

Each business is already the folder. Tags are a second layer inside it, and one conversation can carry more than one.

## The tags

The set is fixed: **Marketing**, **Operations**, **Finance** and **Clients**.

## Tag a conversation

- Open the conversation and use the tag button. On a phone it's in the conversation bar.
- Or select several in the list and choose **Tag**.

## Filter by tag

The chips at the top of the list filter the current view. **All** clears the filter. The choice stays in the address (for example `?tag=finance`), so it survives a reload and opening a conversation.

## Suggestions

When a conversation looks like an invoice, a receipt, a payment or billing, Sydbar shows **Suggest: Finance**. It's applied only if you tap it, and **X** hides the suggestion. Sydbar never tags on its own.

## Gmail labels

With Gmail connected through Google (and permission to change mail), each tag is also a Gmail label named `Sydbar/Finance`, `Sydbar/Clients` and so on. If Gmail can't be reached, the tag still saves in Sydbar. App-password mailboxes and sample conversations are left unchanged.
